I think is
important to have an opinion because is something that, in spite of the 42
years that have pass, is until now a topic that for lots of people needs to be
talked about. My family wasn’t involved
directly in the problem, with this I mean they didn’t have troubles, or missing
friends at that time. My parents were very young at that time, but my
grandmother and my grandfather remember lots of things. My grandmother (on my
mom side) used to work at the Salvador’s hospital, and she told me she was
there when was there when the body of Allende arrived. Nobody said anything and
they weren’t allowed to ask questions, so that was what she did. Also Pinochet
made nurses take the military service (that have benefits till now for her). However
she is not happy with his dictatorship and thinks that he was a murder.
In my
personal opinion I think that it doesn’t matter how many years ago it happened,
till people who were responsible of all crimes that took place at the time
speak, people will always be hurt. And it’s important, as a community to
support them and their fights. I put myself in the case of having a missing relative
and probably I would do the same things that they do. But I don’t think that
violence is the answer to this, or a way to make “them” talk. Is more like a
way to express the anger of people who the only thing that want is answers.
